The Great Debate: “Should the ASX allow SPACs to be listed in Australia?”

The IPO Network held its second thought leadership event of 2021 and first physical event of the year in Melbourne at the RACV Club debating whether, “The ASX should allow SPACs to be listed in Australia?”.

Special Purpose Acquisition Companies [SPACs] are the hot trend for investing in the US, raising $113.1b via 368 IPOs with an average raising of $307.3m in just the first 6 months of 2021. The Great Debate examined current statistics and trends, the potential for ASX to change their policy and assuming no changes in Australia, and issues such as whether Australian tech companies should approach US SPACs to effectively reverse list their business.
