IPO strategies to achieve success when market volatility creates uncertainty

Wednesday, 13 July 2022, Sydney: The IPO Network held its premier thought leadership event of 2022 in George Street Sydney at the Ivy Sunroom discussing, “IPO strategies to achieve success when market volatility creates uncertainty”.

2021 was a strong year for IPOs with 191 new listings, the highest number of new floats in a decade and with over $12 billion raised, including 145 small-capitalised listings. However, in the financial year to 30 June 2022, both the Australian All Ordinaries index and S&P/ASX 200 fell by around 10 per cent after rising by around 25 per cent in the 2020/2021 financial year. Clearly market conditions have materially deteriorated and an uncertain future for listings lies ahead in FY2023.

William Buck Corporate Advisory Director Mark Calvetti expertly facilitated discussion with our special guest panellists including Max Cunningham, former ASX Group Executive – Listings, Linda Fox, formerly CFO of Colonial First State and CFO Merrill Lynch Private Clients and Jun Bei Liu, Lead portfolio manager for Tribeca’s Alpha Plus Fund and former investment analyst covering the Australian consumer sectors at Morningstar and Foster Stockbroking.
